The descendants of George Washington and Jemima Catron Smith will hold a family reuinion on Saturday, August 15 from 11am-3pm in the Fries Methodist Church basement in Fries Virginia. Anyone interested in participating can get more information and correspond with other descendants at the reunion Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=106267076746 George Washington Smith was born in Ashe County NC in 1829 to Robert and Nancy Smith. George Washington Smith moved north to Grayson County Virginia and married Jemima Catron (b. Wythe County) in approximately 1861, just prior to his enlistment into the Virginia Cavalry of the CSA . George Washington and Jemima Catron Smith had seven children and Jemima Catron had one additional son prior born to this union (Harvey Wint Catron). George Washington and Jemima Smith resided near Turkey Knob in Grayson County, Virginia (now Providence District).
