The Annotated 1870 Grayson Co Va Census appearing on the New River Notes show a John and Elizabeth Henderson, family 371, Elizabeth’s age is given as 40. John’s as 60. The family 370 is Henry Henderson 34. The notes below state "Henry probably s/o John Henderson and his first wife" This statement is also given for John J Henderson, family 378.

The original cenus for 1870 shows Elizabeth’s age as 60. Which would not require a first wife for John.

My question is this, was the fact that Elizabeth was 40 the only information leading to the assumption of John Sr having a first wife? Or am I missing some proof somewhere?

Thank you so much for any help, I love this website. John and Elizabeth are my direct greats. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Parks family reunion will be held July 24 - 25, 2010 at the Baptist Union Church fellowship hall on Nature View Lane, Flat Ridge, Virginia. On Saturday visiting and sharing of information will begin about 10:00am. Beverages and donuts will be provided early on Saturday. Before the potluck lunch that will begin about noon we will have a group picture taken. After lunch we will again visit with relatives and friends and share information. There may be some that would like to visit the nearby cemeteries. On Sunday we will meet about 1:00pm after church to again visit with relatives and friends and for more sharing. If there are some visiting in the area for the reunion I am sure you would be welcomed to attend church Sunday morning at the church with services at the normal hours. We may even surprise you this year with a couple of games that tie in with our heritage. We will try to have snacks for those attending after church and there will be door prizes again this year. If there is anything you would like for us to do this year just let us know. Give us your ideas and we will try our best to provide the request. If there are any questions or if you need directions please email me or Charlotte Singleton Abshire. Looking forward to seeing you all there,

I am looking for information on Wesley (or possibly Williams) Hash. He was a 14 year old soldier in the 50th Virginia Infantry, Company D during the Civil War. He is listed in the roster in John D. Chapla’s history of the regiment (H. E. Howard series). We believe that he was killed during the war, but we don’t know where and we dont’ know where he’s buried.

Any help or suggestion you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
